From Table to Database – Teaching a one day workshop at Aarhus University

Teaching

On invitation of Prof. Magda Tyzlik-Carver I gave a one day workshop at the School of Communication and Culture for Digital Design students.

In the morning we looked into individual and common table practices, how ideas, calculations, projects, plans and calenders get tabulated and looked into four specific table categories: mathematical tables, knowledge tables, statistical tables and transaction tables.

The second part was an introduction to SQL (Structured Query Language) demonstrating in practice, how in databases the reading and writing of tables became a formalized and computable practice by querying in-formation.
